Our Story: Built on Doing Things Right
Every homeowner or builder has a story about a bad contractor, surprise charges, unfinished jobs, unlicensed techs. That’s exactly what Tom Corrigan set out to fix when he founded Corrigan Electric nearly 30 years ago.
Tom Corrigan – Founder & Master Electrician has over 55 years in the trade. His influence extends far beyond Corrigan Electric. He’s a mentor, a standards-setter, and a proud guide for the next generation of electricians.
Tom didn’t just want to run an electrical company. He wanted to create the kind of company he’d trust in his own home, one where skilled, licensed electricians do the work, and the customer is always treated with respect. A company that gives back to the community that has given so much to him.
Today, Corrigan Electric is still family-run under 2nd generation leadership. Tom’s sons, Troy and Shawn Corrigan, lead the business with a commitment to quality that’s made us the go-to name for thousands of customers across the region. You’ve probably seen our trucks. You might even know a neighbor who swears by us.
Our Generator Work Has Its Own Name
Corrigan has installed and serviced standby generators since 2004. For years, customers found out about that work by accident. One of our electricians would be in a home for something else, notice a generator in the yard, mention that we service them, and hear, "I had no idea you did that."
So we gave it a name of its own. Corrigan Generators is the generator division of Corrigan Electric: the same family, the same licensed electricians and certified generator technicians, and the same phone number. Corrigan Electric continues exactly as it always has for every other electrical need.

Troy Corrigan
President / General Manager / Master Electrician
Troy has been part of Corrigan Electric since its founding in 1995. He leads the company alongside his brother, helping guide operations, business strategy, and employee training. His industry involvement includes serving on Kentucky electrical code task forces, teaching electrical classes for builders, and holding numerous IEC leadership positions, including two terms as IEC National President.
Shawn Corrigan
Vice President / Field Manager / Master Electrician
Shawn has been part of Corrigan Electric since its founding in 1995. He oversees field operations and is frequently on job sites meeting with contractors and homeowners to ensure our crews have what they need. A strong advocate for apprenticeship training, Shawn also plays a key role in estimating, employee development, and quality control.
James Mattingly
Operations Manager / Master Electrician
James has been an important part of Corrigan Electric since 2002. He oversees field and warehouse operations, supports estimating and purchasing, and helps ensure every project meets Corrigan's standards for quality and code compliance. With more than 20 years of generator experience, James also leads generator operations and personally trains our technicians to provide knowledgeable, dependable service.
DeDe Strothman
Director of Business Development
DeDe oversees the administrative side of Corrigan Electric and Corrigan Generators, bringing together the people, processes, and communication that keep the company moving forward. She leads office operations, supports scheduling and billing, and coordinates across departments so customers and employees get the information and follow-through they need. As a member of the leadership team, DeDe turns company priorities into consistent day-to-day action.
